When families begin using Total Family’s FamilyOS, one of the first questions they ask is, “Who can see what?”

It’s a great question. Legacy work is deeply personal, and feeling safe inside this platform is essential.

In general, when a family is enrolled by their wealth advisor, we assume that advisor is meant to be part of the journey. But every family is different. And we believe privacy should always be something you control.

Here’s how it works:

By default, your advisor will be able to see your personal and family vision work. This includes Values, Purpose, and Roles. They can also view your progress, such as how many milestones or legacy letters you’ve completed. But they cannot read the contents of those letters. No one can — except you and the legacy contact you designate.

Advisors can also see your initial assessment and your answers to any shared family reflections. The purpose of this visibility is not to monitor, but to help. Just like a doctor reviews your chart before an appointment, a great advisor reviews this context to support your family more meaningfully.

Advisors tell us that knowing a client’s vision changes everything about how they show up in meetings. It helps them ask better questions, offer more relevant guidance, and support your family in ways that extend far beyond money.

If you want to make privacy changes, you can. The settings inside FamilyOS are flexible, and you’re in charge. You can restrict access, open access, or adjust it at any time.

Legacy is best done a little at a time, slowly, over a long period. That is how it becomes meaningful. Our goal is to give every family a platform they can use across generations — something that evolves with you and becomes stronger over time.

You have the opportunity to be the generation that starts something lasting. Something your family can return to, learn from, and build on for decades to come.

Total Family was built to help make that possible.
